3 Reasons to Host Your Next Event at the HIMSS Innovation Center

When you’re hosting a thought leadership event or a meeting – the space matters. It needs to be in a location with easy transportation from a major airport, comfortable and well-equipped rooms, great tech support, essential amenities and a professional look and feel. And of course – price matters. But what if you could find a facility that’s not only state-of-the art, but a place created to accelerate the growth of new ideas to advance innovation? A place where your meetings and messages can be shared with others via podcasts and webinars or featured in a newsletter sent to more than 50,000 leaders and advocates in the world of health IT innovation?

Welcome to the HIMSS Innovation Center

If you haven’t seen the space that’s available to HIMSS members, it’s worth seeing. It’s a place where you can imagine meeting up to talk about big ideas and visionary strategies. Light streams in from floor to ceiling windows with vistas that inspire the imagination – from the skyline of downtown Cleveland to expansive public green space and the waters of Lake Erie. A massive central open courtyard in the interior of the building reveals floors of open views into space housing 45 of the world’s leading healthcare, health IT and medical innovation brands inside the Global Center for Health Innovation – and all connected to the massive Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland and the Hilton Hotel.

Who uses the HIMSS Innovation Center – and for what?

The HIMSS Innovation Center can host intimate groups of 10 for a workshop or larger events with up to 400 attendees. Organizations use it for executive briefings, face-to-face meetings with clients, virtual meetings with teams spread across the country or the world, summit meetings about the latest technology challenges, vendor roundtables, hackathons and more. The center supports A/V needs, webinars, video conferencing, multimedia presentations – all with Wi-Fi at no additional charge.

“In one week’s time, we will host a medical hackathon with over 250 developers and finish the week with an executive briefing on healthcare transformation with leading stakeholders from across the healthcare industry.” says HIMSS Innovation Center Director Leslie Evans. “The following week we welcome hundreds of health IT vendors, government agencies and technology users all working together to advance interoperability and improve patient care. The potential here is vast.”

The HIMSS Innovation Center attracts vendors in the healthcare IT market, channel partners, and clients to a space that sparks creativity and disruptive innovation. They come to the center for strategy planning, tech demos, VIP receptions, educational conferences, business launch parties, pitch competitions, fireside chats with subject matter experts on the hottest topics and biggest challenges facing in health IT.

Discover the 3 top reasons why it’s the meeting place for health innovation

Gail Arnett is Senior Director of Corporate Relations and EHR Association for HIMSS North America. She calls the Innovation Center “our best kept secret” and describes it as a beautiful space designed for convening thought leaders for face-to-face meetings they may not be able to host during the one-week HIMSS Annual Conference. “Most HIMSS corporate members have locations all over the country, especially with salespeople often traveling to different cities,” says Arnett. “The HIMSS Innovation Center is a great opportunity for them to meet and exchange ideas and share information.”

Arnett shared her 3 top reasons to “mix and mingle” with the brightest minds at the HIMSS Innovation Center:

  1. Huntington Convention Center is connected to the Innovation Center, with 225,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, 140,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space, 30 breakout rooms and more. “It’s perfect for large user groups such as Epic or NextGen Healthcare. Plus, the Hilton is connected to the center, and there’s a lot going on in downtown Cleveland, with major league sports and nightlife.”

  2. Smaller, more intimate meetings and workshops can be organized as a spin-off during larger events at the convention center or as stand-alone meetings. “Members often want to meet face-to-face where you can see body language and interactions that you can’t get otherwise or in larger settings.”

  3. Cleveland is the medical capital with more than 700 biomedical companies and world-renowned clinical, research and education institutions such as Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals and many others.
