Workshop: Be a Visionary, Coach, Mentor, Director
Jennifer Mitchell Earley, M.Ed., MPA, Corporate College, a Division of Cuyahoga Community College

A leader serves many roles within a practice or organization. There are times when people need someone to lead and motivate them around the vision of what will be; or to coach them to discover their own strengths; or to listen and offer their experience and lessons learned; or simply to point people in the right direction and give them the tools they need to succeed. It’s knowing what role is important in any given circumstance and with the individual and/or team that makes the difference as a leader.

The purpose of this session is to help participants identify a mentor to aid in their personal development and to build their own coaching, mentoring and visionary leadership skills. We will explore how to proactively manage your career and balance action with reflection. This session will help leaders understand how to use coaching and mentoring for themselves and others to achieve short and long term goals.

  • Develop a career plan with goals for the future
  • Identify the difference between coaching and mentoring
  • Steps to find a mentor and how to work with one to achieve your career goals
  • Use a model to assess performance potential of your employees and develop appropriate responses
  • Identify the characteristics of effective feedback to provide both positive and negative feedback in a coaching situation

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
