HIMSS, IHE USA and the EHR|HIE Interoperability Workgroup (IWG) formed an alliance to advance interoperability through an IWG pilot certification and testing program. The pilot will be administered through HIMSS Interoperability Services program with testing and certification services provided by ICSA Labs.
The IWG pilot program builds on and accelerates consensus of national standards, adopting EHR certification criteria and testing procedures relevant for Stage 2 Meaningful Use. The collaboration will provide feedback to the national health IT standard initiatives established by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).
Advancing the Industry through Collaboration
“HIMSS, IHE USA and IWG have worked independently with notable accomplishments. However, the consolidation of our efforts, along with the commitment of these organizations, offers the most promise to create a real, lasting impact and make interoperability a reality in healthcare,” said Joyce Sensmeier, MS, RN-BC, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, FAAN, president of IHE USA.
