On Tuesday, October 15th, in conjunction with the 2013 Medical Innovation Summit, HIMSS welcomed nearly 1,000 visitors to the HIMSS Innovation Center, a part of the Global Center for Health Innovation, in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
The 30,000-square-foot Innovation Center includes the Health IT Simulation Center and the Healthcare Technology Showcase. The goals of the Innovation Center are to solve real-world clinical workflow and financial transactional challenges and enable solutions providers to prove systemic compliance with health information exchange, regulations around IT’s use in effective delivery of healthcare, and interoperability with a variety of IT and medical device products. Additionally, the Innovation Center will be a resource for policymakers and will be a tool to education stakeholders on health policy.
Among guests touring the facility were Joe Benny, Special Projects Coordinator for Representative James Renacci (R-OH) and Beverly Charles, Senior Citizen Liaison for Representative Marcia Fudge (D-OH). HIMSS looks forward to working with Representatives Renacci and Fudge, and the rest of the Ohio Delegation, as well as state and federal officials to engage in interoperability challenges and solutions being identified at the Innovation Center.
