Protecting electronic patient data from security threats remains a top business priority among healthcare providers. In response, HIMSS will open its Cybersecurity Hub on Oct. 25 as a resource to assist health executives, health professionals and the general public in safeguarding private data, and ensuring ongoing patient safety by maintaining the security of technologies used with patients.
Concerns over protecting electronic patient data remain top of mind and in the news these days. In fact, results from the 2016 HIMSS Cybersecurity Survey found that more than 85 percent of respondents reported “cybersecurity efforts within their organization were elevated as a business priority during the past year.”
CYBER SUPERHERO H. Cymon (which is pronounced “H. Simon”) leads the interactive journey at the HIMSS Cybersecurity Hub, where she narrates healthcare-specific data journeys about ransomware, spear phishing, web application attacks, and data breaches.

Visitors will engage in interactive journeys that will incorporate “touchpoint quizzes,” “cyber facts,” and “insider tips” from a touchscreen with supporting information to test their understanding. Videos, infographics, web content and text combine to educate and inform healthcare leaders about cybersecurity.
